Somewhat Personal Questions

1. Are you seeing anyone?  Because if not --

Sorry, but although this gal is no longer engaged, I'm not looking for anyone at the moment. I just want to use this time to find myself before I get into a relationship again. There's just so much to see and do for me at the moment.

2. What's your favorite color and why is it your favorite color?

Like you can't tell with the color theme for this website.  Always has been, always will be.  Why do I like blue?  Because I always looked at blue as representing the good in someone, and it also reminds me of water, and yeah, I DO love swimming.  But I also feel that water has a healing effect.

3. Okay we know your favorite food.  What are your favorite drinks?

Soft drinks, I'd have to say root beer or ginger ale.  Fruit drinks: orange juice, lemonade, and cranberry juice, however, I do like my orange vitamin water. If you see someone with a Lemonade Snapple or a Vitamin water bottle, it's me.

4. What is the most embarrassing moment of your life?

Oh, that's easy.  Okay, I'm huge fan of "The Simpsons" and I like to listen to WAV files of them on the computer.  One time I was in the library and I was listening to Homer singing "The Flintstones" theme, except for the fact where he says, "... he's about to hit a chestnut tree..."  Well, I tried so hard to keep my laughter in me, but I couldn't stop myself.  I left the lab and ran into the bathroom.  I was laughing my head off in there.  If you ever saw the movie "Batman: Mask of the Phantasm" -- remember the part where the councilman ends up in the hospital and is laughing his head off there?  That's exactly how I looked like, and people were giving me weird looks as in, "what the hell...?" or "is she nuts?"

5. Do you believe in destiny?

I do... but at the same time, I believe that our destinies are based on the decisions we make in life.

6. Do you believe in reincarnation?

Hell yeah.  I believe everyone has had a previous life... the only thing is we have no recollection of what we were or what we did.  We're given clues, but nothing more than that.  I believe that in a previous carnation, I was Asian.  It could explain why I'm less interested in my own nationality, which is Spanish and French.  Ever since I was six, I was into Chinese and Japanese culture.

Another part about it was, one time, when I was 12, someone asked me, "how do you say the word 'apple' in Japanese?"  Now, I didn't learn Japanese until I was 20, but some odd reason, I blurted out the word, "ringo".  Yep, that's how you say "apple" in Japanese.

7. Aren't you proud of your own culture?

Sure, I am.  It's just that, I wasn't really taught too much about it.  Mostly my parents like to keep to themselves... especially my father.  I guess you could kind of say that my family background is a mystery to me.  For starters, none of my grandparents are alive.  Two of them died waaaaay before I was born, and the other two died when I was really young.  Also, the hard part for me was fitting in.  Some members of my family (mom’s side) aren’t that fond of me.

8. It says on your profile that you're into Wicca.  Does that mean that you're a witch?

Although I’ve been into Wicca for almost 12 years, I still consider myself a beginner, because there are so many things I have yet to learn.  As I age, I learn more and more about it and what I can do.  In other words, I have more control on what I do, and it gives me some insight on what my pluses and minuses are.

9. Can you cast evil spells or hexes on people?

No, no, NO.  I can't do that.  I only use my spells for good purposes, not evil ones.  I think you’re familiar with the old saying, “what goes around comes around”?  Well… it’s very true in Wicca.  When you do something bad, it comes back and bites you harder than what you did.  Besides, if I wanted to do something evil, I'd have to do it the mortal way.

10. Like what would you do?

Uh-uh-uh.  That's MY secret.  Don't worry.  There's barely a time when you'll catch me at a bad moment.  Trust me.

11. What kinds of things can you do?

Sometimes I can predict things, kind of like Rei-chan, although I'm pretty sure she's a whole lot better at it than I am. *laughs*  I predicted that my cousin would have her first child earlier than expected, and she thought I was full of it, but it actually happened.  I’m also very good at verbal magick (yes, that’s how you spell “magic” in Wicca).  For example, there was a time when someone at work thought it was funny to humiliate me.  She and I didn’t get along with each other, and I said, “I’d be careful who you decide to embarrass because it could happen to you.”  Well… one day, she needed to use the restroom and her pants zipper got caught on shirt, and she couldn’t get out of them.  It was just too funny.  I didn’t think that was gonna happen.  I thought someone was going to chew her out.  That’s one of the joys of magick.  You don’t know how it works until it happens.  However, I have been pretty good at reading people lately, and there were times when I often asked myself if it’s a strength or a curse.  I wasn’t quite sure if I was invading people’s privacy.  Thank God I can’t read minds; that would be scary.

12. What's the best way to kill someone?

Ewwww... I can't answer that.  It's too gruesome for me to think about.  *yech!*

13. Do you play any instruments?

I used to play the piano when I was a kid, but I lost interest in it.  I can still read music and all, but I just don't play anymore.

14. Do you speak any other languages?

Fluently?  No, I don't.  I do understand portions of Spanish and Japanese, but everytime I speak either of the two languages, it sounds broken.  Otherwise, I don't speak any other languages fluently. Hold that thought -- does pig latin count? *laughs*

15. Why did you leave SNM Productions?  Was it because of your ex-boyfriend?

No, it wasn't.  I left because DJ Mod was the only person who could decide where we should perform our music and when.  The rest of us didn't have a say.  I remember one time when the group was invited as guests of honor at a particular anime convention (and I'm not going to mention the name of that convention) but they only invited a few of us, while the rest would stay behind.  I was like, "wait a minute! We're a group, and I think we should act like one.  What's with all this, "only a few of us can go" stuff?  The guys were willing to go without me and without the other two DJs in our group.  Thank God the convention e-mailed the group saying, "we already have a few DJs ready to go, but we'll keep you guys in mind for the future."  Do you get what I mean?  I don't want to be a part of a "group" where only a few of us can do
certain things while the rest of us stay behind.

16. Do you regret that you are no longer DJ Saiyan?

No, not at all.  I can always learn how to remix music again someday.  Right now, I’m just happy making costumes and enjoying the festivities of the con overall. :)  But my real reason why I attend conventions is to meet new people and hang out with friends.

17. What's your favorite anime?

"Ah My Goddess" hands down.  I also like "Ranma 1/2", "Tenchi Muyo", "Marmalade Boy", "Kodomo No Omocha", "His & Her Circumstances"... *sighs* yes, even "Sailor Moon".  However, I'm starting to get really interested in "Hellsing".  That anime is da' bomb! :)

18. What are your favorite movies?

"Big Trouble In Little China", "Back To The Future (first and second movie) and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off".  In "Big Trouble In Little China", I loved the magic they had in the movie, with a few clips of comedy, for example when Thunder was about to blow up. *laughs*  But, hey, who could forget the martial arts fighting scenes; the sword swinging, the backflips, and the cool fan Egg Shen uses when he blocks all the volts of electricity that Lightning throws at him.  In "Back To The Future" I loved the part where Marty McFly scares his father with the old Darth Vader from the planet Vulcan saying that if he didn't ask his mother out to the dance that he would melt George's brain.  As for "Ferris Bueller's Day Off", it's just so amazing how clever he was to place a dummy in his bed and add the tape to play the sound effects to fool his parents.  Oh, let's not forget the part where he gets up on the giant float and starts lip-synching to "Twist & Shout", or the part where his friend, Cameron makes a phony phone call to Principal Rooney.

19. What was your favorite quote from those two movies?

"Big Trouble In Little China":

"Now I'm not saying that I've been everywhere and I've done everything, but I do know it's a pretty amazing planet we live on, and a man would have to be some kind of FOOL to think we're alone in THIS universe."

"Back To The Future":

"Wait, you don't understand. If you don't play there's no music. If there's no music they don't dance. If they don't dance they don't kiss and fall in love and I'm history.

"Ferris Bueller's Day Off":

"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it."

20. What are your favorite TV shows?

"The Apprentice", "The Golden Girls", "Smallville", and on occasion "The Osbournes".

21. Who are your favorite actors?

Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise, Robin Williams, and John Goodman.

22.  Who are your favorite actresses?

Bea Arthur, Tallulah Bankhead, Mae West, and Maggie Smith.

23. What's your favorite novel?

I'd have to say "The Outsiders", by S.E. Hinton.  I was like, "how can a 16-year-old write something so professional?"  Yep, that's how old she was when she wrote that book.  I saw the movie as well, but they leave out so many parts from the story.  But hey, who doesn't like Patrick Swayze (Darry), Tom Cruise (Steve), or Emilio Estevez (Two-Bit)? *laughs*

24. What's your favorite swear word?

Anything that includes the "S" word.   "Bullshit", "yeah, no shit", "Holy shit", "Aw, shit", you get the idea. *laughs*

25. What's your favorite quote?

"Sometimes you only realize how important something is... once you've... lost it."

26. What is your personal quote?

The one above, and here's another three of my own:

"For every disadvantage, there's an advantage."
"You can't win, without knowing what it's like to lose."

“People see what they want to see, but they never see what is presented to them.”

27. Which anime character do you compare yourself to?

I'd have to say Ukyo Kuonji from Ranma 1/2 because she's very blunt in her responses and decision, she's tomboyish, and she's brave.  Let's see... also Dana Sterling from Robotech: The Southern Cross season.  She's very high-spirited, like me, but mischievous at the same time, like the way she and the rest of 15th Squadron sneaked into the hospital, so Dana could talk to Zor Prime.  *lol*

28. What are your pet peeves?

My biggest pet peeve is lack of communication. If there's one thing I can't stand, is when someone fails to voice their opinions or concerns towards me, or automatically assumes that I know something of that person. As I always say, "when in doubt, ask it out." I get upset when people don't ask me anything. Another pet peeve of mine is when I'm talking and someone isn't giving me their attention... or they would interrupt. When people talk, I listen... regardless of whether they are right or wrong. I'd expect the same from you.

29. How do you usually dress?

I like to wear sweatshirts, leggings, jeans, and sweatpants a lot.  I refuse to wear short skirts, after having too many guys gawking, whistling, or blowing kisses at me. :p  It's just so annoying.  It kind of makes you wanna give them the finger and say, "Up yours, you fucking wiseass!"

30. Do you play DDR (Dance Dance Revolution)?

Personally, I prefer to watch people playing the game.  It's a cool game and all, but after hearing about people playing the game for hours and hours, I was like, "oh, my God."  I don't think I can do that.  I do have DDR at home, but I play the game for exercise purposes, not for competition.  I’m kind of getting better at the game.  I’m now playing the game at standard level instead of easy or light mode.  Sure, I need more work, but hey, it’s all about learning.

31. Okay, you're in your thirties and you still cosplay at anime conventions.  Why?

 Four reasons:

                        1) Halloween should take place more than once a year.

                        2) It's a lot of fun to dress up and work as a team.

                        3) It’s an interesting way to meet new people/ friends

                        4) Cosplaying is the only time I can't plead insanity. *laughs*

32. How do your parents react whenever you tell them that you're planning to go to a convention in another state?

My mother is okay with all the trips I make.  My father on the other hand can't understand why I go.  He thinks I'm involved in some form of cult, despite what my mom and I try to tell him.  My dad is absolutely impossible.  He's kind of like Archie Bunker.

33. Do you feel that you're a burden in your own family for being the only one who cosplays?

Why should I?  It's just a hobby, nothing more.  Besides, I spend more time at home, and at work than anywhere else.  I only leave the house on occasion (if I want to go to the mall, hang out with friends, things like that).  If my family wants to degrade me about what I do, and where I go, well, that's their problem.
