NAME OF CHARACTER: Belldandy ANIME SERIES: Ah! My Goddess COSTUME STATUS: 50% made by Claudine Roselle Puente COSTUME DEBUT: Nan Desu Kan 2000 DETAILS: Ah! My Goddess is my all-time favorite anime.  I consider it a sacred anime.  Not just because of the story line, but the actors involved with the whole project (both the sub and the dub version)  When I say dub version, I mean the original dub actors/ actresses from AnimEigo. :)  I have a strong liking to Belldandy.  Hey, who doesn't?  It's not just because she's beautiful, but because she's innocent and pure.  I didn't have the hair for the character, but that didn't stop me from cosplaying as her. What's that, you say?  How can it be 50% made by me?  I'll tell you.  The pattern was NOT my own design.  No, the pattern was created by Melissa Quinn of Faerie Fingers.  I purchased the pattern, but the rest was up to me.  It was not an easy pattern to follow... well, not for me anyway.  I think I called her maybe once or twice just to make sure that I was doing the right thing.  She was very sweet and helpful, and may I add, punctual.  Once I called her, she would immediately call me back; oh, she's a sweetheart! :)  I used baroque satin for the bodice, the petticoat, the fingerless gloves, and the yellow trim (eventually, I replaced the yellow satin trim, with yellow orange felt).  The footsies are white ankle length legwarmers with red felt rings around them.  The sleeves, the cape, and the headress were made out of white sparkled organza.  The beads I wore on my face were made of sculpey clay.  I painted them with blue glitter glue, and added gloss as a finishing touch.  The gold bracelets were purchased.  Last but not least, the necklace (which isn't shown in the above photo) was made from a brass towel rack, and windchimes.  Anytime I tell someone that, they laugh.  Hey, it works! :)
