NAME OF CHARACTER: DDR Sailor Jupiter
ANIME SERIES: N/A (original creation)
COSTUME STATUS: 100% made by Claudine
Roselle Puente
COSTUME DEBUT: Anime Expo 2001
DETAILS: I've only worn this
costume once. I don't know if I'll ever wear it again. Who knows?
This was created for a DDR skit that was performed at Anime Expo 2001,
while Senshi Mysterious was still intact. We were brainstorming for costume
ideas, since the orginal Sailor Moon fukus would be wrong for DDR. The
original ideas were bell bottom pants, and shirts with bell sleeves, but then
a good friend of mine advised against since they were out of style. I
decided to take my mind off the idea... only to be watching Austin Powers:
The Spy That Shagged Me. Felicity Shagwell comes out with other
girls in the dance club and they wore these low cleavage tops, high cut
shorts, and long boots. I liked the idea, with the exception of the low
cleavage and anything that was high cut. Instead of shorts, I figured
that we should have skirts, and we should have the neckline a little higher.
There was no pattern for this design... per se. I had an old top, which
had a neckline exactly the way I wanted -- the way the other girls wanted,
and a mini skirt (that I haven't worn in a long time). Notice that I
said "top" and "mini skirt". Meaning that the
original is a two-piece outfit. We didn't want a two-piece outfit; we
wanted a one-piece outfit. I laid both the top and the skirt onto some
lycra/ spandex fabric and traced along the lines; the briefs were also made
by this fabric. The scarf was made of sparkled organza fabric, and the
bracelets are plastic beads, stringed onto elastic bracelet bands, and an
added sculpey-clay-made bead with Sailor Jupiter's sign. The belt was
made of crafted copper chains, and the buckle was made from with batting;
kind of pillow-like.
SPECIAL NOTICE (PLEASE READ): It has come to my attention that not one, not two,
but THREE people have accused me of purchasing the DDR costumes that were
used for the Anime Expo 2001 skit, and I want to make it perfectly clear that
the information is false. I did not purchase those costumes.
Ever since Anime Expo 1999, the AX people specifically stated, "Please note that costumes purchased or rented from a
costume shop, designer direct, eBay, Yahoo Auctions, Yahoo Japan Auctions,
Cospa, any other costume store or online resource, or any costumes made for
you by a designer or seamstress, are prohibited." Hey, AX people don't fool around. They catch
anything funny, and you don't have any proof to back yourself up, you're
kicked out of the masquerade, plain and simple. Do I have any proof?
Yes, I have the proof, and it's right here:

If you still
don't believe me, it's not my fault that you are too ignorant to know the
difference between truth and lies.
