Frequently Asked Questions, and Rumors About Me

1. Why do you call yourself, Claudine Roselle Puente, instead of just Claudine Puente?

Good question.  I hate, hate, HATE my first name... once I found out what it means.  I felt as though as I've been cursed or something.  I love my middle name; I wish I was named Roselle, instead of Claudine.

2. If that's the case, why don't you change your name?

Well, because I was known as Claudine throughout my whole life, it's kind of hard to change something that's been with me for so long.  Who knows?  My opinion on this might change later on.

3. What's the inside joke about you eating chameleons?

Back in 1997, I used to be known as The Chameleon.  And my e-mail address prefix was crpchameleon.  I never thought anyone would hack into my e-mail address.  I was wrong.  Someone actually did and started trouble among many people in the Yahoo! Chat rooms.  When I tried to check my e-mail, I couldn't get in.  Someone changed my password.  Well... I hope he/ she is reading this because if I ever do find out who this person is, I will hunt him/ her down with everything I've got.

4. You don't like fast food?

Well, with the exception of McDonald's, In-N-Out, Carl's Jr, and Taco Bell, or as some people would like to refer to it as Taco Hell.  This goes back to my first time in Colorado (Nan Desu Kan Convention last year).  I used to go nuts over a Wendy's burger where I live, but when I was in Colorado, I didn't want to look at it or touch it.  This is just one of the reasons.  The other is, when I went to Burger King and ordered a Whopper w/ Cheese, I found a sow bug (a.k.a.: potato bug or roly poly) in it.  *yech!*  Sow bugs are harmless, but let's just say that it's something I don't want to see in my meal.  Despite that I like Taco Bell, I'm now taking precautions.  Hey, I was lucky to catch that sow bug in my burger and that it was just that particular insect.  It could've been worse.  It could've been a spider, or a bee, or even... *yech!* ... a cockroach.

5. Why do you use Century Gothic font for your website?

Courier, Helvetica, Times New Roman, and Verdana are so common.  I thought Century Gothic would be a little more original.  Okay, so it's wider, but, hey, admit it.  It's much easier to read, isn't it?

6. How come you don't have your cosplay profile on Cosplay.com, acparadise.com, or CosplayLab.com?

I figured that my webpage and my LiveJournal is enough.  I mean, hey, if people are too lazy to view either of the two in order to know me, that's their loss or their problem.  Also, in my opinion (and if any of you feel the need to correct or interject me on this statement, please jump right in) that's what I would call showing off.  Why do I have to make a cosplay profile on those websites to prove to everyone that I'm a cosplayer?  All people have to do is ask me, and I'll give them a straight answer.  If you never ask, you'll never know.

7. One time you said you are a Latina, and then another time you said you were Spanish?  Which one are you?

*laughs* Allow me to break it down.  Okay, on my dad’s side, his mom was French, but his dad was Spanish, which explains why my last name is “Puente”.  On my mom’s side, both she and her parents are Salvadoran (Central America); that’s where the Latina side comes from.  Now, do you understand?  But you know, now that I think about it, I think I should just label myself as a “Hispanic”.

Rumors About Me

1. I heard that you quit So Desu Ne Cosplay because you weren’t involved in their Best In Show performance back at Ohayocon 2003.

Excuse me?!  Is that what you think of me as?  A cosplayer who thinks that winning is more important?!  That’s foolish.  I quit because it was clear to me during the end of 2002 that no one wanted me as their leader.  Not to mention that the members thought it was okay to use the group’s name for a performance at a con without my consent.  Had something bad happened (let’s say, someone got hurt or if they ran into problems with the staff), the finger gets pointed at me because I’m the leader of the group, and that shows bad leadership.  Sure, I could’ve told them never to do it again, but if they did it once, chances are, they’ll do it again.

2. You lost a lot of friends because you were impossible to hang out with.

I’m sure that’s what a lot of people think, but from my perspective, I don’t think that’s true.  I will admit that I do kind of act like a motherly figure when it comes to gatherings, or I come off as cross.  Hey, hanging out is one thing, but being cautious is another.  I’ve had friends in the past, who would do stupid things.  For example, one time I almost got into a sedan with 10 people – two in the trunk and 4 without seatbelts.  Sorry, but I refuse to get into a car without a seatbelt, or be a witness to what could’ve been a fatal car accident.  No accidents happened, thank goodness, but these days you never know.  Another time was when this one girl that I roomed in with at AX was so inconsiderate.  She is one of the most immature people I have met in my life, and I can only hope that she grows up because eventually someone isn’t going to give her any mercy.

3. Your fiancé encouraged you to break away from So Desu Ne Cosplay.

Although it’s true that I met my fiancé within the same time frame I resigned from So Desu Ne Cosplay, I left the group days before he and I ever had a conversation.  Besides, why I should I ever have anyone talk me out of something I enjoy?  Don’t you think I have a mind of my own?

4. You were originally cast for Sailor Jamboree, but you turned the membership down.

I’ll admit that I wanted to audition for the group, but their website clearly stated that they were no longer casting any more people.  To answer the rumor, let me put it to you this way.  If I were cast for Sailor Jamboree, a group that contained outstanding choreography, why in the hell would I turn that down to join another cosplaying group and start from scratch?

5. You didn’t design this website by yourself.  You had someone do this for you.

Nope.  These are my designs and my coding.  No plagiarism here.  Also, if someone did this for me, don’t you think they would’ve used a much better software program other than Claris Home Page?  Most people these days use Dreamweaver or Flash; I don’t.

6. I met Ray at PMX, and he said that you’ve tried to get him banned from a couple of cons based solely on you not liking him.

No, this is a misconception.  Although, Ray and I have our differences, I never once suggested, nor hinted banishment towards him at any convention.  The only thing I ever expressed was anger from a post that was taken from the Senshi Mysterious Private Yahoo! Clubs, and posted publicly on the Ani-Magic message board by him.  Later on, I found out that it was someone else who took the message from our board, passed the info to Ray, and then he posted it – the telephone method, if you will.  To make a long story short, no, I never had him banned from any convention just because I didn’t like him.  If I really felt that way, I could’ve done that to a lot of people that I despise.  God knows, I have quite a few people who have stepped on my toes. *laughs*

If anyone out there knows any more rumors about me (doesn’t

necessarily have to be incriminating ones), please send them to me.
