DETAILS: I absolutely love the Marmalade Boy anime, and I absolutely love
the character Miki… no matter how paranoid she is. I will admit that there are times when I feel the same way
she does. That, and the fact
that my fiancé looks so much like Yuu.
We both talked about cosplaying as Miki and Yuu. Funny thing is, I made my costume,
but Pat never got around to making his Yuu costume. :p Yeah, if you see me at a convention
in 2006, remind me to have a chat with him about that. *laughs*
The top was very challenging because again, I had no pattern for this
costume, so I had to trust my own visual memory – the same thing I did when I
made my Misato costume. Oh, I
did use that old school uniform blouse as a pattern when making the top. Only thing is, I had to make the
V-neck line longer for the challenging collar. For the collar, I had to use a cruddy piece of fabric as a
test to see if the collar would fit the way I wanted it, and it worked. Could I do it again, you ask? I really don’t know. It’s worth a shot, but I don’t
know. The skirt was made out of
the same skirt pattern I used for the Lady Achika school uniform, only it’s a
tad bit shorter than that costume.
Both the blouse and the skirt were made from a forest green poly
poplins fabric, that I managed to get for $1.99 a yard when the Fabric Outlet
was having it’s 40% sale. :)
Finding the right green for the costume was a challenge. There were some greens that were
either too dark, or too light.
If anyone out there can find the perfect green for Miki’s school
uniform, please let me know. The
socks are not socks. They’re the
legwarmers that I use for the Ukyo Kuonji costume. Last but not least, the recording robot that I wear is
actually the real one that I purchased from eBay way back when, and I still
have to get a new battery for that. *shrugs*
