NAME OF CHARACTER: Sakura Kinomoto
ANIME SERIES: Card Captor Sakura
COSTUME STATUS: 90% made by Claudine
Roselle Puente
COSTUME DEBUT: Otakon 2001
DETAILS: I always wanted to dress up as
Sakura, just for the heck of it. What baffles me is that almost
everyone who cosplays as Card Captor Sakura wears either the Neko Costume and
the Pink Costume. For Christ's sakes, people! Stop it. I've
only seen one person wear the burglar costume, and maybe 2 or 3 people
wearing the angel costume. I chose the Jester costume because... well,
it's blue. Do I have to go into detail about that again? *laughs*
Okay, the white dress is made of white felt. Yeah, you kind of get the
idea that I was very fond of felt back in the days. Nowadays, I use
felt for trimmings or designs. Who knows? I might go back to
using it. *shrugs* Both the hat and the boots are made of felt.
For the boots, I pulled my white socks over, since I didn't have time
to make the white trim. Hey, it worked out pretty well. Who needs
the trim? I added bells to the hat, the dress, and the boots.
It's a nice look, but the jingle jangle gets annoying after a while. :p
The only part of the costume that's bought is the royal blue leotard.
The staff was made from a wooden dowel and a styrofoam ring, painted in
hot pink tempera paint, and glossed as a finishing touch. The wings on
the staff's ring and the star in the middle are made from foamies. The
star was painted with gold tempera paint, and glossed. :) Last but not
least, the Kero Chan stuffed animal (not to make fun of Kero-chan) that I
have around my shoulder is actually a purse, that can only be purchased from
Japan. My ex gave him to me since he knew that I liked Card Captor
Sakura. :)
