NAME OF CHARACTER: Slytherin Student ANIME SERIES: N/A (Harry Potter Manga) COSTUME STATUS: 95% made by Claudine Roselle Puente COSTUME DEBUT: Fanime Con 2004 DETAILS: Now, most of you anime fans can say whatever you want about Harry Potter not being an anime series. That statement is correct. However, that doesn’t mean that there isn’t any Harry Potter Manga out there. So, for anyone to say that a Harry Potter cosplayer has no business stepping foot inside an anime convention, is completely irrelevant. Originally, I wanted to be a Ravenclaw student because blue is my favorite color. However, the leader of the Black Fleet had a different idea in store for me. At the same time, I’ve never cosplayed as a villain before, so I thought it would be an interesting twist. I didn’t have a pattern to make the robe (though I do now), so I made a copy of my old graduation gown, using black poly poplin fabric. As for the scarf, no, I didn’t purchase the scarf. My good friend, Christal taught me how to knit, and I’m eternally grateful towards her. Someday, I’ll make scarves for commission sake. Who knows? The tie, I purchased from orderofmerlin.com, the patch (which isn’t visible from this picture) was purchased through patchpalace.com, the sweater is really a sweatshirt I created. I was only taught basic knitting at the time, but I’m starting to move onto the intermediate stage, so again, who knows? I might make my own sweater someday. :) As for the skirt, yes, I made the skirt as well, out of the same fabric I used for the robe.
