Cliff's Variety 479 Castro Street San Francisco, CA 94114 (415) 431-5365 NOTE: You won't find a big variety of fabrics in this place, but all is not lost, people.  They have a selection of wigs, tiaras, and stage makeup -- anywhere from body paint, to spirit gum, eyelash glue, latex, and hair dyes. Darlene's Fabrics 2831 Mission Street #A San Francisco, CA 94110 (415) 826-1855 NOTE: This place is really small, but they have fabrics at reasonable prices, as well as a room that includes 99¢ - $1.99 a yard fabrics.  Unfortunately, the bargain fabric is neither color, nor fabric style coordinated, so you're basically looking for a needle in a haystack at some points.  Other than the disorganization, the people there are really nice, and very helpful. :) Denver Fabrics 2777 West Belleview Avenue Littleton, CO 80123 (303) 730-2777 NOTE: If you’re looking for just your typical fabrics, this is the place. My fiancé and I, along with our cosplaying buddy, Merlyn went there, and to be honest with you, I was pretty impressed. If you’re looking for plastic vinyl fabric, chances are, you won’t find them here. :( Otherwise, it’s a big store – so big, that it has three annexes for particular fabrics. Discount Dance Supply P.O. Box 8068 Laguna Hills, CA 92654 (800) 328-7107 NOTE: This is where I went for leotards, dance shoes, tights, and other dance goodies back in my early college days.  It's still around, and their deals are just as good. :) Discount Fabrics 1452 Haight Street San Francisco, CA 94117 (415) 621-5584 NOTE: This fabric shop has a huge selection of PVC fabrics, lycra, and some prints.  Unfortunately PVC in San Francisco isn't cheap at all.  It can range from $12.00 - $16.00 a yard.  Otherwise, the people there are really helpful. Discount Fabrics 448 Mission Street (by Excelsior Street) San Francisco, CA 94112 (415) 586-1040 NOTE: It's not as big as the one on Haight Street, but the people are just as nice.  I go to this one the most mainly because I get kind of lazy to take the bus all the way to Haight Street. :(  It's much closer to where I live... sort of. Fabric Outlet 2109 Mission Street (between 17th & 18th Street) San Francisco, CA 94110 (415) 552-4525 NOTE: This is by far, the best fabric place I've ever been to.  I highly recommend this place if you're on a budget.  They have an even bigger selection of fabrics than Discount Fabrics, and sign up for their mailing list; you won’t regret it. Unfortunately, it's not in a good area.  Otherwise, it's a great store. :) Hancock Fabrics 20806 Hesperian Blvd Hayward, CA 94541 (510) 785-3755 NOTE: When my fiancé and I took a trip to Fort Collins, to see our friend Merlyn, we decided to go to this fabric place to see if we could find some fabrics for our costumes. Patrick and Merlyn managed to find theirs, but I didn’t. Regardless, it wasn’t a waste a time. I managed to sign up for their mailing list, and I also found a Hancock Fabrics in the Bay Area. :) Please check them out. You never know when they have discounts on certain items. Held Over 1543 Haight Street San Francisco, CA 94117 (415) 864-0818 NOTE: This store specializes in wigs, stockings, shoes, and some costumes. Although they have a small selection of wigs, the prices are reasonable. :) JoAnn Fabrics & Crafts 75 Colma Blvd Colma, CA 94014 (650) 755-1711 NOTE: If you're looking for lycra/ spandex in a varierty of colors, this is the place.  I'm not too crazy about going to JoAnn Fabrics, because everytime I go, they keep asking the question -- "what are you making?"  Well... that, and the people at that particular place are either rude or just easily distracted.  Then there are some people who say otherwise.  *shrugs*  You be the judge. Kryolan Corporation 132 9th Street (between Mission & Howard Street) San Francisco, CA 94103 (415) 863-9236 NOTE: This company doesn't sell costumes or wigs.  They specialize with stage makeup.  Anywhere from spirit gum, latex, fake blood, glitter makeup (or as I would like to refer to as "cosmic dust"), white clown makeup, you name it.  They have it. :) Mendel's Far Out Fabrics 1556 Haight Street San Francisco, CA 94117 (415) 621-1287 NOTE: If you're on a budget, I wouldn't recommend purchasing your fabric here.  However, they have wigs and stage/ Halloween makeup at reasonable prices. :)  I just love this store.  It's as though as everything is right in front of you.  It's like your typical JoAnn's fabrics place, except they sell wigs and makeup; JoAnn's doesn't except during Halloween. :) Party Warehouse 28 Westlake Mall Daly City, CA 94015 (650) 992-5570 NOTE: This shop sells Halloween costumes during the Halloween season. However, wigs can be purchased from this shop at anytime. :)  They have cheerleader pom-poms and holiday hats (like the one I wore as Miss 4th of July). Piedmont's Boutique 1452 Haight Street (between Clayton & Ashbury Street) San Francisco, CA 94117 (415) 864-8075 NOTE: Personally, I refer to Piedmont's as "the" Wig Shop.  I kid you not.  I've been to a lot of costume shops in San Francisco, and this store has the biggest selection of wigs.  They will even customize a wig for you (wig styling and wig dyeing).  Oh, they even have a great selection of jewelry, feathered boas, fake eyelashes, gloves, stockings, bustiers, corsets, thongs, and garter belts.  Go to the shop.  Sometimes the website isn't as descriptive.  I.E.: You have to see it to believe it. :) San Francisco Dancewear 659 Mission Street (between 2nd & 3rd Street) San Francisco, CA 94105 (415) 882-7087 NOTE: This is another dance shop I went to back in my early college days, or should I say when I was a modern dancer.  They carry leotards, camisoles, unitards, tights, leggings, dance shoes, dance bags, legwarmers, warmups, chiffon dance skirts, and tutus.
